MILLIPEDES (AKA PORTUGESe MILLIPEDES)

They are a stout black species that can often appear in plague proportions mostly in Autumn and Spring, they have no problem entering your home and gardens and it has been reported they often have a distinct smell.

WHITE TAIL SPIDER

This species of Spider enjoy living in crevices and under bark and often found in Hobart homes.
Despite long term belief that a bite from a White Tail Spider leaves a necrotic sore, recent research suggest the necrosis of human flesh is caused by the introduction of other germs into the bite site.

JUMPING SPIDER 

The Jumping Spider make their homes under fence railings or in a silk retreat among leaves, often found around homes. They are generally considered harmless but a bite may cause pain and swelling.

BLACK HOUSE SPIDER

Commonly found around Hobart homes and any type of structure or gardens. These are one of the most recognised species in Tasmanian homes. Their bite may cause varying reactions.

ENAMELLED BACK SPIDER 

They make their home in an orb between bushes and close to the ground. They are generally
considered harmless.

WOLF SPIDER

The Wolf Spider lives in open burrows in the ground and often referred to as a Tasmanian Trap Door.
They can be very harmful to Cats and Dogs.

HUNTSMAN 

The great hider, they enjoy hiding behind pictures, furniture and curtains. Their bite is usually harmless but may be painful, the fright of seeing one is reason as to why they are the least liked spider.


REDBACK SPIDER 

Distinctive Red Stripe down their back allows for easy detection of this species. They enjoy living around rubbish and garden clutter. Extremely Venomous and cause serious illness or death, especially in Children, elderly or those with Cardio-Vascular problems. If bitten seek medical attention immediately.

This species is also Highly Venomous. They can be found in forest areas and under decaying logs. If bitten seek immediate medical attention.

SCORPIONS 

The Scorpion can be found in suburban gardens and may unintentionally enter your home, often found in the Bath or Shower they enjoy moist areas. Their sting can cause pain and swelling for several hours, if stung seek medical attention.

SCABIES MITE 

The Scabies Mite is a very small critter approx. 0.12mm in length. A lifespan of approx. 4-6 weeks and live in the upper epidermis of the skin, they can be transferred by contact or infected clothing.
